Wedding cake toppers: More than just a bride and groom – October 2014

Emma got in touch with me wayyyyy back in July looking for more than just a bride and groom cake topper – she also wanted her two cats and one dog to be atop the cake with her and her husband!

So quite a few photos and head scratching later and I came up with these lovely cake toppers

Wedding cake toppers: Victoria & Tim – October 2014

Another one from way back in October but this time I made some wedding cake toppers for Victoria and Tim’s Autumn wedding.

The photos aren’t great unfortunately as I finished the cake toppers late at night and only had time for a quick snap before boxing them up ready to post off. Hopefully they were as happy with them as I was!

Wedding cake toppers: Jemma & Rob – September 2014

Last month was definitely busy, busy and I have a few more posts to share about the chalkboards I’ve been doing what I’ve been up to once I get a chance around little B being in everything!

I really enjoyed putting together these lovely little cake toppers for Jemma and Rob, I just hope they went down well on the day!

I just got in an order for a cake topper couple with their animals so watch this space for some cute peg animal cake toppers! If you like what you see please do visit my Etsy shop or get in touch at dreamalittle@yahoo.co.uk!

Wedding cake toppers: Eser and Emma – August 2014

I had a whole lot of fun creating these little peg people for the lovely Eser and Emma who got married over the August bank holiday weekend – they were so lucky with the weather!

This is the first beard for me (I wimped out on doing one for Mr B so his cake topper was a little untrue to life) and a first veil and I’m so pleased with how they came out – hopefully they went down well on the day! Anyway, here are some shots I took of them…

Peg people cake toppers: Jill & Maxime – August 2014

These little cake toppers saw another first for me – a groom in a skirt…well a kilt to be exact, and very dapper he looks too!

I’m pretty please with how they came out but what do you think…

Peg people cake toppers: Anna, Mark and Teddy – August 2014

It’s seems forever since Anna first got in touch with me with the unusual and lovely request for not just 2 cake toppers for her wedding cake but 3, to include their little man in their big day. I said of course and got very excited over how little the peg man was, little did I know how difficult it would be to paint on something that tiny!

I’m so pleased with the results though, I’d do it again 🙂 What do you think?

Wedding cake toppers: Sarah & Alex – July 2014

Sarah got in touch with me only a couple of weeks before her wedding day, hoping that I could put together some cake topper peg people for her and her husband to be in the timeframe. What could I say? I love doing cake toppers! 🙂 Many photos, descriptions and much information later and I came up with these…

A Christmas blackboard and wedding cake toppers…

Boy but it’s been busy round these parts with normal work, Etsy shop work, baking Bean and getting the house ready for his arrival! Glad to have finally got around to sharing a couple of my latest creations, a framed blackboard sign and cake topper Mr and Mrs and I’m pretty pleased with how they turned out…

Very excited to see how they look along with everything else that the bride has planned, the fox buttonholes, felt bouquets and green bowties all sound fantastic so it’s sure to be a most beautiful wedding. A Christmas wedding too, my favourite time of year (not because of Christmas!).

Once I have photos of the items in situ I’ll share, of course!

I’ve added a few new listings to my Etsy store as well…

Our wonderful wedding – 4th May 2013

So I finally got round to sharing some pictures with you!

After loving our engagement shoot in Oxford with Sam I was pretty sure that the photos he took for the wedding would be pretty awesome but I had no idea quite how well he’d manage to capture the feeling of the day and a million and one pictures of me grinning like a complete idiot – that being entirely my own fault!

I couldn’t recommend Sam enough, he charmed every person he spoke to at the wedding and everyone is now suggesting that he has some kind of magical ability to appear invisible as he was so unobtrusive on the day…maybe he is a little bit magic…? Wondering through the bluebell woods (at Sam’s suggestion) felt more than magical…till I heard a mouse!

Et voilà…

We’ll definitely be finding an excuse to get photographed by him again, we both found that we actually quite enjoy being the centre of attention and having someone follow us around – Mr B took to it like a duck to water! Who knew he was such a poser…I, of course, am not. Just him. I just went along with it, hating every minute 🙂

If you have a wedding coming up and you want someone who will capture the essence of your day whilst charming everyone in his path then book Sam, but book him soon, the hordes will be discovering him soon enough!

DIY wedding planning: Wedding cake toppers

Along with the million and one decisions we had to make about the wedding was the decision on the cake. Having decided that there was no colour scheme I became hugely enamoured with some very crazy, bold, colourful designs (horribly impractical . So I picked what I thought was a relatively simple design, plain white cake with a spray of sugar paste multi coloured flowers across the centre, until I showed my MiL and saw her face 🙂

As a very talented cake maker it was more than within her abilities but did take a lot of planning, practising and trial and error but it was soooo worth it! I loved the finished cake and think it looked even better than I’d hoped!

What do you think? Talented lady or what!

To grace the top of the cake I decided on another piece of wedding DIY and, having seen lots of inspiring pictures across Pinterest, went about making a mini Mr B and Mrs B, complete with accessories and all 🙂

Wedding cake topper peg people

I love my peg people!

I purchased some wooden peg people on-line and, using acrylic and a water based varnish, decorated them to resemble the two of us as closely as possible. Though, quite wonderfully Mr B decided to change the colour of his tie AFTER I’d already painted it all in – a most excellent contribution to the wedding planning but I think my second tie attempt was actually an improvement!

I enjoyed making them so much and thought they looked wonderful perched atop the cake that I’ve decided to add these to my growing Etsy shop so if you’d love that little touch of personalisation on your cake but don’t know where to start – just get me to do it!

For your personalised cake topper (should take between 3-4 weeks to fulfil an order) visit my Etsy shop. I’m keeping ours forever as every time I see them they bring back wonderful memories and thought I’d add to them as our family grows…maybe even let them play with them – I might even make a rabbit peg person! 🙂

In case you didn’t know I also make chalkboard wedding signs so check them out too!
